Botkins council approves sidewalk assessment ordinance and related resolution

The Village of Botkins Council on Feb. 11 approved Ordinance No. 26-01, levying assessments for sidewalks, curbs and certain approaches, and passed Resolution No. 26-02 declaring the necessity of constructing and repairing certain sidewalks, curbs and approaches and requiring abutting property owners to construct or repair them.
Council member Christian Petek moved to approve Ordinance No. 26-01 on third reading; Jake Roberts seconded and the motion carried with all voting in favor. Later in the meeting, Roberts moved to approve Resolution No. 26-02 and Craig Brown seconded; the council again voted unanimously to adopt the resolution.
The ordinance and resolution address assessments and the Village's authority to require repairs or new work from adjoining property owners. Both measures were presented and voted on during the regular meeting; other ordinances on the agenda were at second reading and will return for further consideration at a later meeting.
Mayor Lance Symonds presided over the meeting. The council's approvals were recorded in the meeting minutes; the items were read by title for the record prior to votes. The council adjourned after completing these and other agenda items.
