Botkins council approves sending list of 457 rezoning corrections to Planning Commission

Village Administrator Randy Purdy told the Botkins council on Jan. 14 that a zoning‑map review identified 457 parcels labeled with incorrect zoning classifications, the majority listed as R2 but proposed to be rezoned to R1.
Council voted to approve the list of changes and to forward the package to the Planning Commission for review and public comment; the motion was made by Nick Greve and seconded by Lucas Greve and passed without recorded opposition. Purdy said the correction is a technical fix to the Village map and will not change property‑tax assessments. Once the Planning Commission acts, the Village will hold a public forum to answer residents' questions.
Purdy emphasized that county zoning designations are separate and that this measure corrects only the Village’s internal map. The rezoning work is part of an ongoing zoning-code update the council has authorized to improve accuracy and planning clarity.
