SEDC reports local business support; Wyoming Waste proposes $1 annual fee increase

Rock Springs, Wyo. — The council heard two presentations during the meeting's presentations segment. Kayla McDonald, Economic Development Specialist with the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition (SEDC), described recent coalition activities including site visits, business assistance requests, resource fairs for small businesses and internship efforts.
Michelle Foote, Site Manager at Wyoming Waste Systems, proposed a modest fee adjustment of $1 per year for the next five years to offset increasing fuel, insurance and labor costs. The presentation provided the rationale for the proposed adjustment but did not include a formal council vote during the meeting.
Mayor Max Mickelson also issued proclamations proclaiming Sept. 23–27 as Clean Energy Week, September as National Recovery Month, and September as National Service Dog Month. A representative of the Women’s Club of Sweetwater County, Susan Arguello, spoke in support of Canine Companions and encouraged community donations and support.
