Litchfield Board approves donation, hears FY26 finance update and public comment on special-education supports

She also said additional budget-transfer requests were likely to come before the Board later this year.
Student leaders from Lakeview High School gave a brief report on events and ASTE activities. Jameson McTamney, president of the class of 2027, and FFA officers Juana Pena and Becca Furlong summarized recent student activities and programs.
During the public-comment period, Becky Hubschman of Goshen described her experience as the parent of a child receiving special-education services and suggested that placing an interventionist in elementary schools might prevent some students from needing more costly special-education placements later. The Board received the comment for the record; no formal response or action was taken at the meeting.
On action items, the Board unanimously approved the consent agenda (including the Jan. 15, 2026 minutes, an out-of-state field trip to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and a one-year unpaid leave for R. Cammarere at Lakeview High School). The Board also voted unanimously to accept a donation detailed in the meeting materials and read aloud by Superintendent Jeffrey Villar, Ph.D.; the donation amount was not specified in the record and a Board member asked whether the amount needed to be disclosed.
Chair Parkhouse reviewed upcoming budget workshops and meetings through May and reminded the public that budget documents are posted on the district website. With no further business, the Board adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
