Reimagine Run presents centennial mural designs, plans community paint days

Representatives of Reimagine Run, a local arts nonprofit, presented preliminary designs April 24 for a centennial mural to be installed on the borough hall wall along Clemensbridge Road.

Kenneth Leap, representing Reimagine Run, said the nonprofit applied for and received support from the Camden County Cultural Heritage Commission to fund the mural project and ran a request-for-qualifications process that produced multiple applicants and two finalists. “What you’re looking at tonight are those preliminary concepts,” Leap said, describing how each design aims to tell the story of Runnemede’s past, present and future and to incorporate resident stories and participation.

Leap described the selected wall as visible from the intersection of Black Pike and Clemensbridge Road and said Reimagine Run will host community paint days during the summer so residents can help paint the mural. He said one finalist will be chosen and that the artist team will be present at the Centennial Pike Jam on May 9 to gather more stories and images from residents before producing a final design. Leap said the grant funding amount was not specified in the presentation.

Reimagine Run asked residents to review the two preliminary concepts at the end of the meeting and to attend public engagement opportunities. The group indicated the final design will be executed during the summer, with opportunities for hands-on community participation.
