Hempstead board approves a slate of parking and traffic local laws

During the left-turn item, Lin Krug of Garden City urged the board to consider a full traffic study and possible signal at the Trader Joe’s driveway in Oceanside, saying a left-turn ban alone is “only part of the problem” and describing near misses she has observed. The board adopted the left-turn prohibition after hearing that public comment.
The administrative calendar (items 8–40) was also moved as a block and approved; the calendar contains routine appointments and administrative actions, including an appointment to the town grievance board that drew public questions about a possible conflict of interest. The board recorded affirmative roll-call votes from Supervisor Ferretti, Councilman Dunn, Deputy Supervisor Guzby, Councilwoman Miller, Councilman Muscarella, Councilwoman Ryder and Councilman Schneider on the items presented that morning.
The adopted laws will be implemented by relevant town departments (public works, police and the building/compliance divisions).
