The Johnstown Planning Board on Feb. 3 approved a change of use for a new bakery-café, Main Street Confection, at 112 W. Main Street. The applicants told the board they plan to offer candy, baked goods, gelato and coffee, with limited café-style seating and a primary takeout model; all baking and food preparation will occur on-site.
Board members confirmed the proposed use is permitted in the zoning district and noted that the project involves interior renovations only, with no changes to the building’s exterior footprint. Signage will be limited to standard storefront signage without awnings or sidewalk projections. The applicants said they have owned the building for several years and have completed renovations to the apartment above the storefront and will coordinate with the City Codes Office on interior work and code compliance.
Board Member Betsy Camarra moved to approve the change of use; Board Member Terri Easterly seconded. The motion passed 5-0 (Ayes: 5, Noes: 0). No site-plan or exterior modifications were requested at this stage.
