Woolwich Committee creates Road Crew Leader post, adopts salary changes after executive session

Discussion about the salary ordinance amendment (Ordinance 2025-05) focused on a budget line for a certified solid waste and recycling coordinator. Committeeman Frederick questioned a $12,000 allocation and asked whether implementing an online form system could reduce workload. "The position is primarily required to complete mandatory annual tonnage reports," Mayor Matthias said, noting those reports had been outsourced previously at significant expense. Frederick argued the $12,000 figure was high; Matthias described the number as a flexible range rather than a fixed expense and defended in-house coordination to meet reporting requirements.

The salary amendment (2025-05) passed on a 4–1 roll call, with Frederick voting no. The separate salary resolution R-2025-72, which had been removed from the consent agenda and discussed in closed session under personnel and salaries, was subsequently adopted unanimously after the committee returned to open session.
