Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks updated the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council on several county actions and local items during Tuesday's meeting.
Parks said the Board of Supervisors is focusing on long‑term pension reductions and is using iPads to access weekly Board documents in an effort to reduce costs. She informed the MAC that the Board will hear an appeal of the July Planning Commission decision on the Oak Park Chabad on Oct. 12 and that a major legal challenge to the County's open‑space protections in the Tierra Rejada Valley had recently expired.
Parks also described her pivotal vote at a LAFCo meeting that resulted in denying annexation of 326 acres of open space in Newbury Park to the City of Thousand Oaks; she said she expects proponents may seek to overturn that result at a future LAFCo meeting. Parks noted a county tribute to CHP Officer Randy Hosking that involved Oak Park and Santa Rosa Valley MACs.
During her remarks Parks presented a commendation to Oak Park resident Don Kendall for his service with the Calleguas Municipal Water District; Kendall accepted and expressed his appreciation for the community.
Parks' update was delivered as part of the evening's agenda; no Board actions were taken by the MAC as a result of the report.
