The Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council appointed a liaison to the State Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) public participation group for the Santa Susana Field Laboratory on a unanimous vote Tuesday.
By motion of Mike Green, seconded by Derek Ross, the MAC named Jay Kapitz as the liaison and Michael Paule as the alternate; the motion passed 5-0. Kapitz will serve as the MAC's point of contact with DTSC's public‑engagement process for the Santa Susana site.
The appointment follows continuing community interest in the cleanup and public‑engagement processes for the Santa Susana Field Laboratory. The MAC did not identify specific tasks for the liaison at the time of the appointment; members said the liaison would report back to the MAC on DTSC meetings and opportunities for public input.
