Windham conservation commission records maintenance plans, fencing estimate and committee meetings; minutes approved

The Windham Conservation Commission used its April 9 meeting to coordinate maintenance, review a conceptual bridge estimate for Fessenden Dam, discuss fencing around the Post Office cellar hole, and schedule upcoming committee meetings.

Peter Griffin reported a conceptual discussion with Mill City Iron Fabricators about an approximate 8-foot bridge across the larger sluiceway at Fessenden Dam; the commission said it would coordinate with the Historic District Commission and Historic Commission for estimates and next steps. Chair Michael Specian reported that Fences Unlimited will install a split-rail fence with a wheelchair-accessible opening and cited a $7,880 estimate for a fence around the Post Office cellar hole; he asked whether the commission wanted him to bring the estimate to the Board of Selectmen for approval.

Ms. Ferrisi reported that only three hives remain at the front of Golden Meadow and that others have been moved back; Vice Chair Morris agreed to contact Mark Harvey to flatten a parking area and Mr. Harvey volunteered to do the work. Commissioners also noted blobs of oil on a trail and planned additional brush-clearing workdays; Mr. Johnson and Mr. Curto offered equipment support.

Administrative items included an updated camping-request form posted to the commission web page, a Trails Committee meeting set for April 22, a workshop on April 16 (first hour devoted to new ZBA ordinances, second hour to the commission mission statement), and a motion to approve the minutes of March 26, 2026. Commissioner Kara Feldberg moved to approve the minutes as amended; Lisa Ferrisi seconded and the motion passed 5-0. Feldberg later moved to adjourn at 8:55 p.m.; Ferrisi seconded and the meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote.
