Windham conservation commission approves Girl Scout Greenway trail signage for Gold Award

The signs are intended to highlight the Greenway trail and will be installed by August 2026.
The project drew operational suggestions from the Commission. Committee member Dave Curto proposed adding road names to the posts so trail users could identify intersections. Selectman Ross McLeod reported vehicular traffic on the section between Haskell and Londonderry Roads; the Commission agreed to install no-vehicle signs on that stretch and to standardize signage across conservation lands.
Mr. Dubay of The Dubay Group told the Commission the firm would like to fund the project and encouraged Walden to coordinate with project engineer Timothy Lapoint. Committee member Dave Curto moved to allow Elyse Walden to proceed with the Greenway trail signage and marking project for her Girl Scout Gold Award; Committee member Brian McFarland seconded the motion and the Commission approved it 5-0.
The Commission’s approval includes the plan to match the new posts to existing Fosters Pond posts and to secure the posts with gravel. Implementation steps noted at the meeting include coordination with the project engineer, placement decisions for the posts at the named intersections, and installation by August 2026. The Commission did not vote on specific funding amounts; The Dubay Group offered support during the discussion.
The Commission’s next steps are field coordination with the engineer and scheduling installation; the project was authorized to proceed pending coordination with town staff and the project engineer.
