Norwich Township trustees unanimously approve conditional job offers for six firefighter candidates

Norwich Township Board of Trustees held a special meeting Oct. 28, 2025, called to order at 1:03 PM by Chairman Greg Young. The board entered an executive session at 1:04 PM under Ohio Revised Code 121.22(G)(1) to consider the appointment of a public official, then reconvened and acted on hiring decisions.
Vice Chairman Rick Tidd moved, and Trustee Sonny Cantrell seconded, motions to extend conditional offers of employment with the Fire Department to six candidates: Caleb Schwartz (Motion #251028.03), Cody Dotson (Motion #251028.04), Andrew Mantell (Motion #251028.05), Austin Miller (Motion #251028.06), Nick Girardi (Motion #251028.07) and Colin Schwartz (Motion #251028.08). Each motion passed unanimously with Cantrell, Tidd and Young voting yes on each tally.
Each conditional offer is expressly contingent on the successful completion of a department physical, drug screen, CVSA, a psychological evaluation and pay according to the current collective bargaining agreement, as stated in the motions. The motions were recorded as separate, individual actions and carried by voice vote.
The trustees also recorded the procedural motions to enter and adjourn the executive session (Motions #251028.01 and #251028.02). Chairman Greg Young moved to adjourn the special meeting at 4:02 PM; that motion was seconded by Rick Tidd and passed unanimously (Motion #251028.09).
The meeting record is signed by Fiscal Officer Omar Tirl Tarazi and Chairman Greg Young. No other public testimony or dissent was recorded in the minutes for these items.
