Northfield receives $17,500 police body‑camera grant; fire station project on track for June

Police Chief Brian Zajac told the Village of Northfield council on Feb. 28 that the Village was awarded a $17,500 grant to pay half of the cost of additional body cameras for the department. He was asked to provide the grant documentation to Finance Director and Clerk of Council Jennifer Potvin and Law Director Brad Bryan so a budget amendment can be prepared to account for the Village's matching portion.
Fire Captain Joe Zemek said Chief Buss had provided the fire department's monthly report earlier in February and had no further additions; Mayor Jenn Domzalski, who attended a construction meeting for the fire station project that morning, reported the station doors have been delivered and the project is scheduled for completion in June. Captain Zemek did not provide a revised budget figure in the minutes.
Service Department Superintendent Jason Walters said the new salt barn has improved the Village's ability to store salt this winter and that the department is demoing equipment budgeted for purchase this year.
Other administrative items: Recreation Board will meet March 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers; the mayor announced an Ohio Attorney General seminar for new councilpersons on March 23 in Independence (Village will cover the $100 registration fee for attendees who sign up by March 4).
