"The buffers are protected," Nysten said, and she asked the board to require mandatory map legends and professional stamps on submissions.
Assistant Community Development Director Julie Suech responded that staff already includes many of those items on the application checklist and that submissions are reviewed by the town engineer, Mr. Keach. Board members agreed that aligning the checklist language with the formal regulations would help ensure consistent reviews and decided to schedule a workshop to review Nysten's proposed edits.
The planned workshop will focus on tightening regulatory language around buffer delineation and submission standards and is intended to reduce instances where applications arrive without required stamps or buffer depictions. The Board did not take formal regulatory action at the meeting; it directed staff to set up the workshop and bring back proposed regulatory language for further review.
The discussion occurred during a broader agenda that also included topics such as impact fees and potential changes to the Market Square Overlay District. The Board's next steps are scheduling the workshop and preparing draft language for subsequent consideration.
