Mahtomedi Environmental Commission elects new chair, approves 2026 meeting schedule

Commissioner Christine Ahmann-Maples told the group she wanted to give another commissioner the opportunity to serve as chair this year; Collins volunteered for the role and Keating volunteered to serve as vice chair. Ahmann-Maples made the motion to appoint Collins and Keating; Commissioner Mike Chevalier seconded it and the motion carried. The commission also approved the meeting agenda (motion by Commissioner Ahmann-Maples, seconded by Commissioner Collins) and ratified the Nov. 10, 2025 minutes (motion by Commissioner Erin Roche, seconded by Ahmann-Maples). The minutes and motions were recorded as “motion carried” without a roll-call tally in the transcript.
The commission adopted the following 2026 meeting dates: January 12; February 9; March 16 (at Public Works Facility); April 13; April 25 (RITE of Spring event); May 11; June 8; July 13; August 10; September 14; October 12; November 9; and December 14, 2026. Commissioners explicitly discussed hosting the March 16 meeting at the Public Works facility to allow members and the public to view the solar-panel installation completed the prior summer.
Administrator Scott Neilson and commissioners said they plan to use the RITE of Spring event to highlight the commission’s past projects and recruit volunteers for open seats. The commission listed RITE of Spring planning, Commission priorities and grant updates as items for the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. on a motion by Commissioner Collins, seconded by Commissioner Chevalier; the motion carried.
