Star Valley EMS urges snow-safety fixes at leased Thayne garage; lease near expiration

Bud Clark, representing Star Valley Health EMS, updated the Thayne Town Council on an operational safety issue at the EMSgarage the organization rents from the town.
Clark said that last winter snow sliding off the roof blocked the garage door and prevented an emergency rig from exiting quickly. He asked the council to consider constructing an A-frame over the garage door to keep sliding snow from obstructing the opening. Clark said the request comes late in the season, so installation likely would not occur this year, and noted the EMS lease on the building is due to expire at the end of October; the lease had been provided to the EMS for signature.
Council members suggested immediate, lower-cost options such as racking snow off the roof or looking into snow-cleat attachments. They recommended consulting an engineer to determine whether the roof structure could bear additional loads if an A-frame or other permanent modification were installed. Cliff (town operations staff) said he would investigate options.
The council did not take formal action at the meeting but discussed short-term mitigations and the need for an engineering assessment before any structural change.
