The Rock Springs City Council on Aug. 6 approved a slate of resolutions, contracts, event permits and city bills. Resolutions approved by vote included a FEMA grant agreement (Resolution 2024-110); a service agreement with the Boys & Girls Club of Sweetwater County (Resolution 2024-111, carried with Councilors Rob Zotti and Tim Robinson recorded as abstaining); contracts with TAD Management LLC (Resolution 2024-113); alcohol and tobacco inspection contracts with the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police (Resolutions 2024-114 and 2024-115); a sale agreement with YESCO LLC (Resolution 2024-116); a strategic planning contract with Peak Consulting (Resolution 2024-118); and a powerline right-of-way easement to Rocky Mountain Power (Resolution 2024-119).
Councilors also approved administrative requests including permission to fill a vacant Recreation Supervisor position at the Ice Arena, authorization to seek bids for playground equipment at Wataha Recreation Area, permission for the Fire Department to apply for an ExxonMobil grant for a portable extinguisher training prop, and approval of the Rock Springs High School Homecoming Parade route for Oct. 3, 2024. The council approved three liquor catering permits for Porky’s Bar for the Southwest Shootout and six malt beverage permits for Rock Springs Grizzlies hockey games.
Fiscal actions: bills and claims presented totaled $2,015,799.25, and report checks totaled $215,116.25; Councilor Jeannie Demas moved to approve the bills and claims and the motion carried with Councilors David Thompson and Daniel Pedri abstaining.
Why it matters: The actions authorize grant acceptance, service and inspection contracts, capital/operational agreements and special-event permits that affect city operations and local partners. The Boys & Girls Club agreement and FEMA grant involve partnership and emergency-management resources; the inspection contracts relate to enforcement activities; and the budget approvals release funds for city obligations.
Votes at a glance: Resolutions and motions were recorded as approved by the council; where transcript records abstentions, they are noted above. No award of the Concrete Replacement bid was recorded in the transcript.
