Torrington advances $41.15 million FY2027 budget to third reading

Clerk Treasurer Lynette Strecker told the council the total budget stands at $41,150,442.77 and that the county assessor provided an estimated property-tax revenue figure of $385,600. "The total budget is $41,150,442.77," Strecker said at the meeting, adding there are remaining items to finalize — including verification of cash carryover and an administrative fee study — ahead of the third reading scheduled for June 16.
Strecker said staff will run a final review of formulas and complete a budget work session on June 10 prior to the third reading. Councilman Victorin moved to approve the ordinance on second reading; Councilman Warren seconded. The council approved the budget ordinance on 2nd reading by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The council’s approval on second reading keeps the appropriation schedule on track for final adoption after the remaining technical items and the final public meeting requirements are completed.
