Mifflin County honors Ashley Crossson as 2025 National Teacher of the Year

The Mifflin County Board of Commissioners on June 4 approved a proclamation honoring Ashley Crossson as the 2025 National Teacher of the Year.
Commissioner Cotus read the proclamation, noting Crossson’s selection after serving as Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year and representing the Council of Chief State School Officers’ National Teacher of the Year program. The proclamation described Crossson’s national service as an ambassador for education and cited her work speaking at more than 100 events to advocate for students and teachers.
Crossson, a graduate of the Mifflin County School District, told the board she spent the last year traveling as a classroom ambassador and that the experience allowed her to learn from classrooms across the country. “To be able to shine a positive light on Mifflin County on a national stage has been the greatest opportunity that I will have in my career to serve my hometown,” she said. She said her year of service concludes June 30 and she is looking forward to returning to the district with new perspectives for her students and colleagues.
The board approved the proclamation by voice vote and planned a photo with Crossson following the brief ceremony. No formal policy action or funding was attached to the proclamation; it was a ceremonial recognition.
