Covington promotes Aaron Zuhl to sergeant; council names CRA board volunteers

Chief Tim Cline announced at the Jan. 21 Covington Village Council meeting that Officer Aaron Zuhl has been promoted and sworn in as a sergeant. The announcement was made after Mayor Lee Harmon opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. and the council completed its roll call.
The council also reviewed board appointments. Mayor Lee Harmon said the Planning Commission roster will remain the same. Council members Derrick Canan and Martin Leistner volunteered to serve on the village’s Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) Board; the council recorded terms of service of through 2026 for Canan and through 2028 for Leistner. The Covington Development designee will be appointed by the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Harmon said.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent agenda, which included minutes and December financial reports. Amy Welborn moved to accept the consent agenda; Martin Leistner seconded and the motion passed with "all ayes." No public vote was recorded for the CRA volunteers or the promotion in the transcript; the promotion was announced and the volunteers were recorded as having stepped forward and having term dates assigned.
No additional action items, votes, or staff assignments related to the appointments or promotion were recorded in the minutes. The council adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
