County Administrator Ron Brade presented a family request to name the disc golf course at Edmunds Park in honor of former Parks and Recreation Director Bill Shortt, noting Shortt’s substantial role in developing and designing the course.
Committee members reviewed Shortt’s years of service and contributions to the Parks and Recreation Department. Chair Larry Roller moved and Supervisor Dennis Witt seconded a motion to recommend to the full Board of Supervisors that the county approve the naming. The motion passed 3-0.
Mr. Brade noted staff hoped to place the matter on the upcoming Board agenda so signage could be installed prior to Shortt’s memorial service; the committee did not formally set signage language or installation details at the meeting.
