The council approved two administrative matters in new business: an ordinance authorizing participation in American Municipal Power (AMP) hands‑on safety training and a resolution adopting a memorandum of understanding for a school resource officer (SRO) for the 2025–26 school year.
Administrator Aaron summarized the AMP training agreement, which covers participation in hands‑on climbing and other safety exercises; the village solicitor and insurance carriers reviewed the agreement and confirmed workers’ compensation coverage for attendees. Council suspended readings and adopted the AMP ordinance to enter the agreement.
On the SRO, staff presented a memorandum of understanding with the Waynesfield School District for the 2025–26 school year. Compensation in the proposed MOU increases from $25 an hour to $30 an hour; Superintendent Pence reviewed the document and indicated the district expects to present it to the school board with no concerns. Council suspended readings and adopted the resolution to forward the MOU to the school board.
Action and next steps: staff will finalize paperwork and coordinate insurance and scheduling for AMP trainings; the SRO MOU will be submitted to the school board for approval.
