Commission names Squire Pope access easement 'Redfish Point'

The Planning Commission unanimously approved a request to name the access easement off Squire Pope Road “Redfish Point.” Kathleen Litchfield, 9-1-1 communications manager for Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue, told commissioners the easement provides direct access to two homes planned for 325 Squire Pope Road and that assigning a distinct name would aid emergency response and future addressing for nearby parcels (321 and 323 Squire Pope Road).
Johida Pfister, deputy chief, confirmed the feature remains an access easement; staff said it could later become a different form of street if development warranted, but at present it is not appropriate to carry a Squire Pope address. Commissioner Lobos moved to approve the naming; Commissioner Duarte seconded. The motion carried unanimously. The commission will forward the recommendation to Town Council for final action.
The action affects addressing and emergency-response logistics for a small cluster of parcels; no additional regulatory changes were attached to the naming.
