At its June 8 meeting the Richland Village Council approved $250 for parade treats and directed administrative follow-up on a proposed M-89 sign and election filings.
The council approved a motion authorizing Trustee Jason Mechenbier to purchase throwable treats for children for the July 4 parade for no more than $250 (motion recorded Lewis/Mechenbier). On an Old Business item regarding a new M-89 sign the council discussed smaller sign options and asked Clerk Mollie Fish to contact Consumers Energy to obtain a power-hookup quote; once the quote is received the council plans to vote on the preferred sign option.
President David Greve also asked Clerk Fish to contact the Kalamazoo County Clerk’s office to verify who is up for reelection, filing deadlines and required forms. Clerk Fish reported the village’s historic designation is permanent and has no expiration date.
Next steps: Clerk Fish will pursue the Consumers Energy quote and the county clerk confirmation; the council will return to the preferred sign option for a future vote once cost and hookup details are available.
