Whitehouse council authorizes ODNR trails grant application and approves bid advertising for Cemetery Road repaving

Council voted unanimously on Feb. 3 to authorize the Village Administrator to prepare and submit an application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Recreational Trails Program and to serve as signatory on any resulting contracts.
Administrator Jordan Daugherty said the authorization does not create an immediate obligation for the Village but allows staff to pursue grant opportunities. Public Works Director Mike Hill described the intended trail connection—linking the Wabash trail near a cell tower to the park/Blue Creek corridor—to improve continuity of local recreational routes.
Council also approved a separate authorization to advertise for bids on the funded Cemetery Road repaving project (Wabash trail to Weckerly Road). Daugherty said bidding notices are posted in the Toledo Free Press and distributed to local contractors by the construction manager. The motion to advertise passed unanimously.
Council asked staff to publish notices for a tree commission vacancy and noted upcoming community events including Coffee with Mayor and Council and an Easter egg hunt.
