Resident says contractor failed to restore yards after Panhandle sewer project; mayor to follow up

Resident Jeremy Upole told the West Union Village Council that after the Panhandle sewer installation the contractor failed to restore yards to prior condition despite contract language promising restoration. Upole said the contractor left uneven ground, exposed stumps and compacted clay that prevents grass from growing.
"It is dust, it is dirt ... it is a mud pit right now," Upole said, describing persistent problems and unsuccessful attempts to get the contractor to repair the damage. He said he has spent about $1,000 trying to coax grass growth and that the area has caused damage to a lawn mower.
Councilmembers agreed the contractor should honor the contract’s restoration obligations. Mayor Jason Buda said he has already raised the issue with the contractor and will follow up when the contractor returns from vacation.
No formal remedy was authorized at the meeting; the mayor and staff will pursue the contractor to enforce contract terms and complete restoration work.
