The Dunmore Pension Board on March 11, 2025 approved multiple pension actions and a DROP entry, voting unanimously on each recorded motion.
The board approved Vito Ruggiero’s nonuniform pension application after reviewing actuary Joe Duda’s calculations and legal review; Wolff said Ruggiero’s projected monthly benefit is $1,726.44. The board also approved firefighter Colin Kearney’s pension; Kearney began service in March 1999, separated in August 2012 and is vested.
Firefighter Christopher Cichocki’s disability pension was approved by the board contingent on his resignation and final settlement documentation. The board reviewed an independent medical exam that found Cichocki unable to return to firefighting and discussed heart‑and‑lung and workers’ compensation issues; Duda’s actuarial numbers were discussed and the board asked counsel to confirm calculations before final payroll actions. The motion to approve Cichocki’s disability pension contingent on resignation was made by Greg Kamla and seconded by Eugene Mentz and carried unanimously.
The board accepted Sal Marchese’s request to enter the Delayed Retirement Option Plan (DROP) for 60 months after council action amended the police ordinance to permit that arrangement. Janet Brier moved to accept the DROP entry; Mark Burton seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
All votes taken on pension applications and the DROP were unanimous among board members present. The board recorded motions to adjourn after completing the agenda. The board will circulate required documents and coordinate implementation of approved pensions with payroll and actuarial staff.
