Ferguson told council he had reached two other companies that quoted washing and repainting for “around $80,000” and that both were below $100,000. Ferguson and Francis cautioned that surface issues may return if non-water-tank-grade paint was previously used; Ferguson said, “it is going to come back ... guaranteed,” and consultant Kent Bryan added, “mold is going to be there no matter what color you chose.”
Council and administration discussed the age of the tank and possible coatings; Ferguson said the tank was installed in 2015. No procurement decision or contract award was made at the meeting; instead the council asked staff to collect additional quotes and to evaluate options through the appropriate committee and budget process.
What happens next: Administrator Ferguson said he is awaiting formal written quotes from vendors and council members indicated they will review those figures before moving to a funding decision.
