West Lafayette confirms 10% sewer-rate rise, eliminates pool-fill credits and advances Safe Routes plans

The village administrator told the council the sewer-rate ordinance approved at the prior meeting increases rates by 10%, effective with the October billing, and that pool-fill credits on sewer accounts will be removed starting in 2025.
“We raised the sewer rates 10% and that's effective on the October billing,” the Village Administrator said, noting the ordinance language also eliminated pool-fill credits previously granted on sewer bills.
Administrator updates included the Safe Routes to School project: engineers’ plans are largely finalized and staff will walk the route again; construction is expected to begin late 2025 or early 2026. The Safe Routes plan calls for new stop signs at Wall and Union, Oak and 6th and other crossing improvements tied to the school-safety project.
On utilities work, the administrator said the sewer outfall bid opening has been set for Nov. 15 and that a related grant deadline will be extended; staff await official confirmation of the extension. He also reported bulk wastewater collections increased (more than $2,000 last month) and that year-to-date collections are pushing over $30,000.
Council did not take a final vote on the Safe Routes construction schedule at the meeting; engineers and staff will continue plan review and follow-up before construction is scheduled.
