During the Aug. 19, 2024, Waynesville Finance meeting, committee members sought clearer explanations for several budget line items in the finance packet.
Mr. Colvin asked detailed questions about multiple lines of business in the packet so he could 'more educate himself on where the village's money was spent' and what certain lines represent. He pointed to a sidewalk fund showing a $25 balance and asked what that fund covered. Mr. Anthony suggested some lines may overlap and could be consolidated.
Ms. Morley told the committee there is a CHEAT SHEET that explains each finance code and agreed members of the Finance Committee could receive copies to improve their understanding. Committee members were told that some lines of business must remain listed for several years and that a formal process is required to remove or consolidate funds.
No formal action to consolidate lines or remove codes was taken; the committee requested documentation to guide any future decisions.
