Residents ask Valley View council about political‑sign enforcement, intersection lighting and a possible assisted‑living conversion

During public comment at the Oct. 1 Village of Valley View council meeting, residents raised several neighborhood concerns and requested information from village staff.
Bob Swidarski of Stone Road asked the mayor about a letter concerning political signs. Mayor Matt March told the meeting he had sent 30 letters asking residents to remove signs and that 17 complied; he said the remaining 13 who had not complied "will receive citations if their signs were still up and those people receiving citations will have to appear in Mayor's Court." Swidarski also urged adding lighting at the Canal Road and Stone Road intersection for pedestrian safety; council discussed petitioning FirstEnergy about pole placement.
Resident Jeanne Loboda asked the clerk for a copy of the village’s 2023 state audit; Clerk‑Treasurer Snyder said she would provide the report. Loboda said a neighbor’s house was sold and there are rumors the property may become a rehab or assisted‑living facility. Councilperson Wilson said the buyer’s agent had declined to disclose the buyers’ names, and Building Commissioner Ellis said any change to that property’s use would have to come before the Planning Board.
