Versailles council adopts 2026 budget, updates personnel rules and appoints police and fire chiefs

Versailles Mayor Dammeyer called the Village Council to order Dec. 29 and the council moved quickly through a slate of administrative and personnel measures that the body unanimously approved.

Attorney Tom Guillozet read a series of resolutions and ordinances by title for second and third readings before votes. Council adopted the 2026 Annual Appropriation Ordinance (Ordinance No. 25-66) and an implementing transfer ordinance (Ordinance No. 25-67). The council also approved Resolution No. 25-68, which updates hourly employee compensation tables, and Ordinance No. 25-65, which amends the 2025 appropriation ordinance.

Council Member Steinbrunner moved to approve each measure after Guillozet read it by title; motions were seconded by other members and carried unanimously.
