Atkinson police‑station committee says EPA probe of Industrial Way site should find no issues

The Town of Atkinson Police Station Location Committee said on May 20, 2025, that it is certain no industrial activity ever took place on the town‑owned site on Industrial Way and that the pending Environmental Protection Agency investigation should find no issues. "Because we are certain that no industrial activity ever took place on the property and that no structure was ever built there, there should be no issue with the investigation," a committee member said.
The committee said it will await a written report from John Apple on the matter before taking further steps. Brian Boyle, the committee chair, said he will contact consultant Steve Keach for a status update on Keach’s work on proposed police‑department site plans. Committee member Phil Busby was assigned to obtain a price estimate for clearing the parcel.
The committee also handled routine business. Lenny Hall moved to accept the minutes of the May 6, 2025 meeting as written; Greg Spero seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 6–0–0. Members recorded as voting yes were Brian Boyle; Phil Busby; Charlie George; Lenny Hall; Wendy Barker, Selectmen’s Representative; and Greg Spero, Selectmen’s Representative.
The committee agreed not to schedule another meeting until Steve Keach is ready to present completed site plans. The session opened at 5:30 p.m. and adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
