Districts plan smart meters to monitor inflow, pollutants; plant adds experienced operator

Tetra Tech told the Joint Facilities Oversight Committee that each participating sanitation district will install smart meters in the collection system to measure inflow and infiltration and monitor nitrogen, biological oxygen demand and metals.
Gabe (Tetra Tech) said the meters will give districts data to inform policy discussions, enforcement and future budgeting decisions. The committee did not vote on a procurement plan at the meeting.
Separately, Logan Wray reported that the plant hired a fourth employee who brings 22 years of wastewater treatment experience, a staffing update the committee welcomed. Jim Cordell thanked Michael Brack for his work with the JFOC.
The smart-meter proposal and the additional operator are intended to strengthen operations and data-driven decision-making; the committee signaled that districts will evaluate costs and timing in follow-up.
