Grand County #1 requests 1 MGD plant expansion; districts to weigh EQR allocation

Grand County #1 formally requested a 1 million gallons-per-day expansion of the shared wastewater treatment plant on Jan. 27, the Joint Facilities Oversight Committee heard on Feb. 12.
Gabe (Tetra Tech) said the request was submitted Jan. 27 and that a response to the request is due by March 28. He told the committee that the three sanitation districts that use the plant will meet to discuss how much expansion is needed at this time and whether to adjust the EQR rate or reallocate available EQRs among participants.
Gabe said the state is involved at an early stage of expansion planning and is evaluating a 10–20 year projection of future needs. The committee did not adopt any formal expansion decision at the meeting; members scheduled further discussion for the May meeting to refine needs and allocation questions.
