At its Aug. 11 meeting the Plain City Council held a series of public hearings (ZC-25-8 through ZC-25-12) on proposed amendments to the codified zoning ordinances for multiple districts. Each hearing opened and closed without public comment.
The proposed zoning changes include amendments to Part Eleven of the Planning and Zoning Code for Chapter 1161 (B1 Neighborhood Business District), Chapter 1165 (B3 Central Business District), Chapter 1169 (I1 Restricted Industrial District), Chapter 1171 (I2 Limited Industrial District), and a proposal to remove Chapter 1175 (Office, Laboratory and Research District). The hearings were informational; no votes or public testimony were recorded.
Council also conducted first readings of Ordinances 31–33, which would authorize the issuance and sale of unvoted general obligation notes in aggregate principal amounts listed on the agenda (Ordinance 31: up to $1,425,000; Ordinance 32: up to $1,550,000 for park-system real-estate acquisition and related improvements; Ordinance 33: up to $1,000,000 for municipal real-estate acquisition). Village staff described these as routine annual financing measures for various municipal projects and asked that the council consider declaring an emergency at the second reading on Aug. 25 for some of the items.
All zoning hearings were recorded as having no public comment, and the ordinances were presented as first readings; no final adoption took place at the Aug. 11 meeting.
