Chase Evans, Plain City’s communications manager, outlined his top priorities to Council at the work session on Aug. 6, saying he plans to expand the Village’s use of social media, improve the Plain City app, and increase photographic and video content to boost resident engagement.
Evans described coordination with the Plain City Police Department on social posts, ongoing discussions with the app developer about additional tools (including an event calendar), and collaboration with economic development and planning and zoning staff to promote business opportunities. He said staff is working with MKSK Studios on the comprehensive plan update and that recent coverage of the Depot grand opening illustrated the potential reach of the Village’s media efforts.
Councilmembers asked operational questions about resources and best practices. Councilmember A. Lewis asked whether Evans needs additional tools; Evans said he has discussed items for the 2026 budget, including a new drone and potentially an intern to assist with event coverage. Councilmember J. Eudaily asked about social-media conventions; Evans recommended tagging the Village account and resharing posts rather than asking the Council to use a specific hashtag. Councilmember J. Sintz asked whether the app could host an integrated event calendar; Evans said the platform has that capability and staff will explore adding community events and consolidating calendars.
Evans also reported that the Village’s social-media reach has increased across platforms and provided analytics showing stronger engagement and new followers, and he said he is leveraging media relationships to secure coverage for Village events. Council thanked Evans for the presentation.
