Council discusses proposed Pastime Park campground rules on hammocks, generators and pet enclosures

Plain City Council discussed proposed changes to the Pastime Park Campground rules at first reading of Resolution 39-2025 on July 14.
Council Member A. Lewis asked whether a prohibition on hanging hammocks from trees was intended to protect trees; staff confirmed that was the intent. Lewis also asked whether the permitted small-appliance list could be expanded to include air fryers and similar devices; Lupton said she would investigate the practicality of that change.
Lewis and Council Member T. Harriman suggested distinguishing built-in generators that are part of a camping unit from portable generators and discussed specifying hours of operation ("quiet time") so portable generators would not be used late at night. Harriman also asked whether temporary small fence enclosures for small dogs could be allowed, with the expectation that such structures be temporary and pets supervised.
Administrator Lupton thanked council for the suggestions and said she would discuss the proposed clarifications with Parks & Recreation Committee and staff before returning the resolution for further consideration.
