Commission hears heating-and-cooling update; vendor to re-evaluate geo-thermal pumps this summer

At the April 23 Pennridge Regional Police Commission meeting, Chief Paul T. Dickinson Jr. presented an evaluation by Anderson Mechanical Corporation regarding efficiency problems in the headquarters heating and cooling system.
According to the chief, AMC’s evaluation indicated that “the Geo-Thermal pumps in the system may be overworking and that could be the reason for the efficiency issues.” AMC agreed to return in the summer months to re-evaluate the system and then provide explanations and a plan at a public meeting. Commissioners held a brief discussion about the report but took no immediate action.
During the same meeting, Chief Dickinson read a letter from the Quakertown Borough Police Chief thanking Pennridge Regional for services at a recent protest and reported a $1,000 donation from Coronado Pool Plaster to the department.
Resident Nick Custer later returned to public comment to raise concerns about the heating system; commissioners said multiple companies had evaluated the system and that the department is attempting repairs and improvements to increase efficiency.
Meeting outcomes: on motions the Commission approved the consent agenda (which included payment of bills totaling $93,736.05) and the solicitor's report; the meeting was then adjourned into executive session on personnel matters at 5:19 p.m.
