Resident raises concern about deputizing sheriff’s deputies for ICE; chief says department will not participate

Nick Custer, a resident of 2515 Wellington Court, addressed the Pennridge Regional Police Commission on April 23, expressing concerns about “the deputizing of Bucks County Sheriff's as agents under ICE, to enforce immigration violators.”
Chief Paul T. Dickinson Jr. responded directly to Custer, saying there was “no plan to participate in the program, and that the department would not have a need to participate in such a program.” The chief’s assurance was offered during the public comment period and repeated later when Custer raised related concerns about departmental practice.
The exchange took place at a regular commission meeting at Pennridge Regional Police Headquarters in Sellersville. Chairperson Gary Volovnik presided. No formal action or policy change on immigration enforcement was proposed or adopted during the meeting; commissioners did not vote on any change to departmental practice regarding federal immigration enforcement.
The meeting included other routine business (see separate meeting report) and adjourned into executive session on personnel matters at 5:19 p.m.
