Parks department requests replacement of two aging trucks; board to consider ARPA funding

Board members asked about resale of the old vehicles (Ahn said they are auctioned and resale proceeds depend on bids) and about whether the purchase could be funded from ARPA. Finance staff said the village received about $2.0 million in ARPA funds and has spent roughly $500,000; staff said ARPA expenditures must be contracted or spent by Dec. 31 to meet program requirements and indicated capital projects generally qualify.
Trustees asked staff to bring procurement details and a recommended funding source (ARPA or another fund) to the next work session so the board can consider placing the purchase on the regular meeting agenda. A cost estimate discussed in the meeting was described variably as "about $130,000" to "about $150,000"; trustees and staff characterized that as an approximate figure to be refined with procurement quotes.
