Versailles council approves package of ordinances on traffic, zoning, code, personnel and EMS pay
Summary
On Feb. 26, 2025 the Versailles Village Council unanimously approved a suite of emergency ordinances and resolutions including a ban on truck turns at Main and Center Streets, zoning for a 6.467-acre tract on Grand Avenue, adoption of the Ohio Basic Code 2025, and updates to the personnel manual and EMS compensation and job descriptions.
Versailles Village Council on Feb. 26 approved a series of ordinances and resolutions addressing traffic regulation, zoning, municipal code adoption and personnel policies.
Village Attorney Tom Guillozet read the measures by title during the meeting; council declared most items emergency measures and voted to suspend rules for immediate third reading. Ordinance No. 25-04, prohibiting truck turns at the intersection of Main and Center Streets, passed after a motion to declare an emergency from Mr. Griesdorn and a motion to approve from Mr. Steinbrunner. Ordinance No. 25-05, establishing the zoning classification for a 6.467-acre tract along Grand Avenue, was approved under the same emergency procedure.
Council also approved Ordinance No. 25-10 to adopt American Legal Publishing’s Ohio Basic Code, 2025 Edition, as the village Code of Ordinances; Ordinance No. 25-07 updating the village’s Interest Allocation Policy; and Ordinance No. 25-08 accepting infrastructure improvements completed in Section 2 of Rosecomb Estates Subdivision. Resolution No. 25-09 authorizing advertisement for the 2025 Street Maintenance Project and Resolution No. 25-11 revising the Personnel Policy Manual were approved as read.
Public-safety personnel measures were included in the package: Ordinance No. 25-12 revising EMS personnel compensation and Resolution No. 25-13 updating job descriptions for EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate and EMT/Paramedic positions were approved after emergency suspension of the rules.
Votes on the listed ordinances and resolutions were unanimous among council members present. The meeting record shows motions to approve generally made by Mr. Steinbrunner and seconded by Ms. Shaffer, with emergency suspensions moved by Mr. Griesdorn and seconded by Mrs. Dieringer. Council President Pro-Tempore Kent Paulus, Mr. Griesdorn, Mr. Steinbrunner, Mrs. Dieringer and Ms. Shaffer were present; Mr. Weaver was absent.
