Mayor Jody Carney swore in Kory Majors as a Plain City Police Department officer during the July 28 council meeting. Chief Dale McKee introduced Majors, noting Majors served five years as a deputy sheriff in Ottawa County, Ohio, and welcomed him as the department’s newest member.
Chief McKee said Majors will begin internal Police Department training in the near future. The chief reported that the department currently has one open officer position, which staff expect to fill with an incoming training academy cadet; the next training academy session begins in October 2025. Chief McKee also thanked police and public works staff for their support during July events and reminded the public that the Police Department will host a National Night Out event on Aug. 5, 2025.
The council and attendees applauded after the swearing-in. No disciplinary, assignment, or salary details were discussed in the public meeting.
