The Iberia Parish Council on June 10 recognized Deborah Conner (S9), administrative secretary in the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, with a resolution of appreciation marking her retirement after 48 years of parish service.
Conner told the council she was "truly humbled and honored" and reflected on her career from 1978 to 2026, thanking elected officials, supervisors and coworkers. Several council members rose to pay tribute, citing her consistent service during storms and emergencies and her helpfulness to the public. Council members joined in a unanimous second and the clerk recorded that the resolution carried.
Council members emphasized Conner's long tenure and the reliability she provided to both staff and residents. The council adopted the resolution of appreciation and congratulated Conner on her retirement.
