At its March 27 meeting the Warren Local Board of Education approved a set of routine but consequential items, including monthly financial reports and several curriculum and personnel actions.
On financial business the board approved payment of bills and other expenses for February 2025 totaling $3,341,255.12, accepted the February financial reports (investment balances, cash position and checks dated Feb. 1–28), and recorded investment earnings of $460.49 deposited to the Permanent Improvement Fund. The board also approved a set of agreements with META Solutions related to E-Rate internet access and managed internal broadband services.
The board adopted instructional materials and contracts under RES. NO. 26-25: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Into AGA) for $74,232.51 (2025–2030), Amplify for kindergarten through eighth grade for $245,999.30 (2025–2030), Educate to Protect for K–6 for $1,300 (subject to ORC/DEW guidance), and an open-source 7–12 option at no additional cost.
The administration also reported two donations to the archery program — $500 from Matt’s Custom Auto and $1,000 from Polymer Services — which the board accepted under RES. NO. 24-25.
Personnel actions approved under RES. NO. 28-25 included certified hires (pending verification): Rebecca Armbruster, elementary intervention specialist; Myranda Payne, kindergarten teacher; and Breanna Wallace, middle school social studies teacher, each on limited one-year contracts beginning in the 2025–26 school year. Resignations accepted included Emily Klinger (elementary first grade), Emily Stauffer (middle school 5th/6th science), and Lisa Turrill (middle school 6th grade social studies), all effective at the end of the 2024–25 school year. Classified personnel actions included hiring Connie Cremeans as an elementary cook (3.5 hours daily), and the board recorded the retirement of Robin Roberts, middle school head custodian, effective June 24, 2025. The board also approved pupil activity and supplemental assignments and listed athletic staffing (volunteer and negotiated-agreement positions).
During committee reports, Legislative Liaison Mr. Roush updated the board on HB62 and HB114; Mr. Crum and other committee chairs provided updates on facilities, finance, policy and curriculum work. Teacher Nerissa Hall presented an overview of the math curriculum and the benefits of choosing Amplify.
All listed approvals passed by recorded unanimous vote (Mr. Allen, Mr. Crum, Mrs. Greenup, Mrs. Proctor, Mr. Roush). The board adjourned at 6:47 p.m. and reaffirmed its next regular meeting for April 23, 2025 at 6 p.m.
