Warsaw schedules BHM audit, hears grant updates; playground ribbon-cutting set for May 2

The Village of Warsaw announced on April 16 that BHM CPA Group, Inc. will begin the village’s 2023–2024 independent audit. Fiscal Officer Tammy L. Pope said the firm contacted the village to start the audit process.
Pope told the council the village received a letter from the Montgomery Foundation saying the village’s digital-sign grant application was not selected for funding. She added that the village and the Walhonding Valley Fire Department still have several grant applications pending and that the Park Committee will meet to plan the annual River View Community Park chicken barbecue. Jillian Flowers will assemble the village’s CDBG Neighborhood Revitalization grant proposal, and a community input meeting is set for April 30, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at the Walhonding Valley Museum.
The council also reviewed an application for OWPC funds to provide matching money for blacktop on Spring Mountain Road. The project estimate was about $61,300 and the village listed the work as a 50/50 matching project; officials did not record a final award during the meeting. The village announced a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the River View Community Playground project on May 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
No formal funding decisions were recorded during the meeting; council members said they are awaiting responses on pending grants and will proceed with project planning once awards are confirmed.
