The Warren Local Board of Education on Aug. 22 accepted personnel changes and approved supplemental and pupil activity contracts for the 2024‑25 school year.
Under Resolution 68‑24 (motion by Mr. Roush, second by Mrs. Greenup) the board accepted the resignation of Anna Baker (middle school seventh/eighth grade math teacher, effective Aug. 6) and listed several supplemental assignments including webmaster master positions and athletics positions contingent on required verification and clearances.
Classified personnel actions included the employment of Kevin Richards as a school bus driver (route #49) effective Aug. 20, transfers of bus routes for Dennis Bennett, resignations of evening custodians and a mechanic, and an unpaid medical leave of absence (FMLA approved) for bus driver Brenda Watson from Aug. 20 through Oct. 14. The agenda notes that many hires are pending successful verification of certification, criminal records checks, and other state and local requirements.
The board also approved a long list of pupil activity recommendations and non‑staff event workers (ticket takers, gate keepers, scoreboard workers) and directed the Treasurer to enter into one‑year Pupil Activity Program Contracts with non‑licensed individuals when no licensed employee accepted a position. On the pupil activity items the board recorded votes: Mr. Allen yes; Mr. Crum yes; Mrs. Greenup abstain; Mrs. Proctor yes; Mr. Roush yes. The abstention was recorded in official minutes.
The actions were procedural personnel and compensation approvals; many positions were noted as "Per the negotiated agreement" or pending routine checks. Several volunteer and per‑agreement assignments were included for band, athletics and extracurricular events.
