Warren Local board approves resolution to place 10-year emergency levy renewal on May 6, 2025 ballot

The Warren Local Board of Education on Dec. 16 adopted RES. NO. 91-24, declaring it necessary to renew an existing emergency tax levy that would raise $1,755,600 per year for 10 years if approved. The board directed the treasurer to certify the resolution to the Washington County Auditor and to request calculations of current taxable value and the estimated levy necessary to produce the stated revenue.
The resolution cites Ohio Revised Code Sections 5705.03 and 5705.194–5705.197 and states the question of levying the renewal will be submitted to all electors of the district at the election on May 6, 2025. The territory of the district lies in Washington and Athens counties, the resolution notes.
The motion to adopt the resolution passed with four votes in favor and one member absent (Mr. Crum). The resolution instructs the treasurer to obtain auditor calculations expressed in mills and in dollars per $100,000 of appraised value and to take any steps required for the levy question to appear on the May ballot.
If approved by voters, the renewal levy would take effect across the entire district for 10 years and first appear on the tax list for the 2025 tax year, with first payments due in calendar year 2026.
