Warren Local board approves new hires, recalls and athletics assignments for 2024–25

The Warren Local Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions at its June 26 meeting, including certified hires, classified appointments, recalls from reductions-in-force and numerous pupil-activity and athletics supplemental contracts for the 2024–25 school year.
Certified employment recommendations approved (pending successful verification of certification and background checks) included Christa Benson as an elementary intervention specialist; Lindsay Lang as district educational psychologist on a limited two-year exempt contract; Lisa Turrill as a middle-school sixth-grade social studies teacher; and Jennifer Wright as a high-school business education teacher. Resignations recorded included Tricia Hawkins, district educational psychologist, effective June 30, 2024.
Classified personnel actions included transfers and hires for classroom aides, custodial and transportation staff. New school bus drivers approved for limited one-year contracts included Errol Mayle and Clifford Peckens, effective at the start of the 2024–25 school year. The board recorded reductions in force for two aides effective at the end of the 2023–24 school year and approved recalls for several staff members to positions for 2024–25.
The board also approved numerous pupil activity and athletics supplemental positions for the coming school year—coaching assignments across football, cheerleading, cross country, golf and soccer—some explicitly contingent on sufficient participant numbers. One volunteer appointment (David Staats) was recorded. The vote on the supplemental recommendations recorded Mr. Allen abstaining; Mr. Crum, Mrs. Greenup, Mrs. Proctor and Mr. Roush voted yes.
Human resources noted that all new hires and pupil-activity contracts are subject to successful verification of certification, experience and required criminal records checks. Where a non-licensed individual accepts a supplemental position, the Treasurer will enter a Pupil Activity Program Contract per Ohio law.
The board approved the personnel package by motion; actions are effective at the start of the 2024–25 school year unless otherwise noted.
